Leroy H. Black
Leroy H. Black, 77, of Cabot, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2022, at Quality Life Services-Sugar Creek Rest.
Born April 28, 1945, in Indiana Township, Pa., he was the son of the late Oliver G. Black Sr. and Ruth E. Dillner Black.
Leroy was a 1963 graduate of Knoch High School, and he served on the class reunion committee.
Leroy served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1967.
He worked for Hughes Aircraft in the space and communications department.
Leroy was a very active member of the Saxonburg American Legion 683 and the Saxonburg VFW 7376. He was also a Mason.
Leroy was a hobby farmer, enjoyed woodworking and loved “John Deere.” He loved quad riding and he rode with a group of friends at Cook Forest. Leroy also enjoyed cars and boat cruises.
Surviving are his children, Lisa (John) Alden of Sedro Woolley, Wash., and Larry (Jennifer) Black of Bellingham, Wash.; five grandchildren, Cory, Jet, Hunter, Winston and Dezmend; his sister, Sandra L. Black of Cabot; his uncle, John Black of Butler; his aunt, Agnes Smith of Oceanside, Calif.; his sister-in-law, Linda Black of Long Beach, Calif.; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Oliver G. “Butch” Black Jr.
BLACK — Friends of Leroy H. Black, who died Sunday, Oct. 30, 2022, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2022, at FOX FUNERAL HOME, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. The Saxonburg American Legion will conduct a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022, at the funeral home.
Interment with military honors will follow at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022, at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
Memorial donations may be made to the Jefferson Center Presbyterian Church.
