Mullen

Kenneth W. "Bill" Mullen, 81, of 1738 Airport Road, Fredonia, Fairview Township, Mercer County, died at 9:55 p.m. Monday at home after an extended illness.

Born in Homestead, April 5, 1929, he was a son of Kenneth B. and Margaret A. Lewis Mullen.

After high school graduation, he attended trade school and learned the electrical trade. He then spent more than 30 years as an electrician for the U.S. Steel Homestead Works and then he retired from Saxonburg in 1982.

In 1981, Bill moved up to Fairview Township and along with wife, June, and son, Paul, and his wife, Cathy, they owned and operated the Mullen Farm, where they began raising cattle and then went into dairy farming. He loved to farm and was proud of his grandsons who followed along and now are running the farm.

Bill was a member of Perry Baptist Church, Hadley, Mercer County.

He married June H. Spangler on May 22, 1948, and she preceded him in death Oct. 19, 2004.

He is survived by a daughter, Margie G. Bray and her husband, Dean, of Chicora; three sons, Gary W. Mullen of Chicora, Paul A. Mullen and his wife, Cathy, at home on the farm, and Mark E. Mullen of Fredonia; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Arlene Lusnak and her husband, Joe, of Munhall and Marylou Walker and her husband, Forest, of Somerset; and a brother, Ronald Mullen and his wife, Wilma, of Chicora.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two daughter-in-laws, Joyce Mullen and Rosemary Mullen.

<B>MULLEN </B>— Calling hours for Kenneth W. "Bill" Mullen, who died Monday, June 7, 2010, are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at <B>Scott A. Black Funeral Home</B>, 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro. The funeral service and committal service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. James W. Sodano, pastor of Perry Baptist Church, officiating.
