Donald R. Stewart
Donald R. Stewart, 91, of Butler passed away Thursday at the VA Butler Healthcare.
He was born Dec. 4, 1926, in Butler, and was the son of the late Stanley Stewart and the late Twila Umstead.
Donald worked as a mail carrier for the Butler Post Office, retiring in 1982 after 32 years of service.
He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 48, Joseph Black VFW Post 249 and the American Legion Post 117 of Butler.
Donald was a veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific.
Donald is survived by his two daughters, Joanne (David) Ellenberger of Butler, and Kathleen (David) Shidemantle of Harmony; two sons, J. Edwin Sloan of Texas and Tomas (Paulette) Sloan of Natrona Heights; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ana, whom he married on Oct. 3, 1953, and who passed away on March 25, 2003; one son, Stanley Stewart; his brothers, Loyal Stewart and Ralph Stewart; and his sister, Catherine Weibel.
STEWART — A memorial service for Donald R. Stewart, who died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St., Butler, with the Rev. Merry Meloy officiating.Arrangements were made by the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E.
