Hugh M. Trautmann
Hugh M. Trautmann, formerly of Renfrew, passed away peacefully on Saturday at the ripe age of 84.
Born March 24, 1934, in Santa Monica, Calif., he was the son of the late Herbert L. Trautmann and Marjorie M. (Milner).
His early work consisted of tool and design engineering for many companies on the West Coast. Starting in 1970, he became employed by Billco Manufacturing of Zelienople as a design engineer. With Billco, Hugh's innovation helped improve the flat-glass residential and automotive manufacturing process for years. He was the right person at the right time for the glass industry. He retired in 2003 as chief design engineer.
He loved his family. His favorite holiday was Independence Day. It wasn't unusual for him to play a practical joke on a family member on that holiday.
With his elaborate machine shop, he would rarely turn away a project or problem for a friend.
Hugh enjoyed ending the week at Billco with a friendly night of poker with his co-workers.
He instilled in his children a sense of humor in good and bad times.
Over a fire in the family outdoor fire pit, we have enjoyed many laughs and stories with Hugh, our Dad.
Hugh is survived by his five children, Susan (Peter) Crist of Saxonburg, Timothy Trautmann of Columbus, Ohio, Peter (Steve Shipp) Trautmann of Columbus, Ohio, Merrill (Kevin) Jacques of Rocky River, Ohio, and Anne Trautmann of Taos, N.M.
He is also survived by five granddaughters, Devon (Joe) Norris, Emily (Ken) Mueller, Alexandria Crist, Laura Crist and Jordan Jacques; one grandson, Henry Hugh Jacques; two great-granddaughters; and one great-grandson.
Hugh was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara J. (Bittner); his brother, Phillip (Mary Asher) Trautmann of Laguna Beach, Calif., and his fraternal twin, John (Jane McCleeve) Trautmann of San Jose, Calif.
