Mary C. (McCormick) Royer

Mary C. (McCormick) Royer, 90, of Valencia passed away Tuesday.

Mary's roots were in Akron's North Hill, where she was a parishioner at St. Martha Catholic Church and a student at St. Martha Elementary School. She then went on to St. Vincent High School, where she met her future husband, Patrick Royer. They were married for 64 years until his death in 2011.

During their long marriage, encompassing several career moves, Pat and Mary raised seven children. Mary was a full-time mother, lovingly tending to the physical, educational, social and spiritual needs of her children. She was always active in her church and community and demonstrated unflagging devotion to her husband, her children and her faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Helen McCormick; her husband, Pat Royer; and Pat and Mary's beloved son, James Patrick Royer.

Survivors include, her children, Maureen Royer Lofton and her husband, Gary, of Conehatta, Miss., Anne Royer Williams and her husband, Tim, of Munroe Falls, Ohio, John Royer of Visalia, Calif., Claire Royer Molinaro and her husband, Ron, of Valencia, Martin Royer and his wife, Pam, of Saginaw, Mich., and Denis Royer and his wife, Tricia, of Menomonee Falls, Wis.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

ROYER — Calling hours for Mary C. (McCormick) Royer, who died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016, were Friday at the Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home, 3333 Kent Road, Stow, Ohio.A Mass of Christian burial was at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 300 E. Tallmadge Ave., Akron, Ohio, followed by interment at the Holy Cross Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Assoc., Greater East Ohio Chapter, 70 W.
