Yvonne Eileen Summerville, former Clarion County official
Yvonne Eileen Summerville, 80, of Rimersburg died Thursday at the Golden Living Center in Shippenville.
Born on Aug. 9, 1927, she was the daughter of Lloyd "Dewey" and Bernice "Bea" Kline Boltz of Rimersburg.
She graduated from Union Joint High School in 1945.
Mrs. Summerville was the prothonotary and clerk of courts for Clarion County from 1977 until her retirement in 1995. During that time she served as the state president of state prothonotary and clerk of courts organization in 1987 to 1988, one of the few women to serve in that capacity. She served on the state committee to write the procedure manual for those offices. She also took law classes at Clarion and Indiana universities.
Prior to her political career, she was employed for 13 years as an elementary secretary for Union School District.
In her early years, she was a charter volunteer librarian for Eccles Lesher Memorial Library and was a Sunday school teacher and superintendent.
She was a member of the Jerusalem United Church of Christ of Rimersburg, where she had sung with the church choir.
In recent years, she enjoyed participating in a Bible study group, the Eccles Lesher Library Book Club and the Clarion County Democratic Women.
A devoted mother and grandmother, she was an avid reader and sports enthusiast. Her other hobbies included cooking, painting, crafts and any musical or sporting event in which her children and grandchildren participated.
She is survived by two sons, Rick Summerville and his friend, Rebecca Leas, of Fairmount City and Crist Summerville and his wife, Debb, of Knox; two daughters, Lugene Crawford and her husband, Rich, of Parker and Suzanne Olszewski and her husband, Bill, of Renfrew; five grandsons, Curtis and Adam Crawford and Cody, Cristian and Corbin Summerville; and two granddaughters, Danielle and Logan Olszewski.
<B>Summerville</B> — Friends of Yvonne Eileen Summerville, who died on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, will be received from noon to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Varner Funeral Home</B> in Rimersburg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Jerusalem Church of Christ in Rimersburg with the Revs. Krona Say and Lonnie Wolford of the Park Hill First Church of God of West Freedom and the Rev. Samuel Swick of the Nevin Memorial United Church of Christ of Frogtown officiating. Burial will be at the Rimersburg Cemetery.Memorials may be made to the Jerusalem United Church of Christ or the Eccles Lesher Memorial Library, Rimersburg.
