Jane D. Thompson, 90, of Freeport passed away at 9:03 p.m. Friday while in the company of her family at Good Samaritan Hospice Unit at Concordia in Cabot.

Jane was born in Freeport on July 20, 1921, the daughter of the late Bertha E. (Fuhrman) and Herman Barr. She was the widow of William F. Thompson, who passed away in 1999.

Jane was a loving mother, wonderful homemaker and a jack of all trades. Jane had worked for many years at her sister's antique shop in Freeport, Mercedes Antiques.

Jane was a member of St. Mary, Mother of God Church, in Freeport. She also was a member of the Christian Mothers and the Freeport Historical Society. She enjoyed cleaning, ironing, sewing, quilting, embroidery, refinishing furniture, antiques and going to flee markets. Her greatest love was being surrounded by her family.

Jane will be greatly missed by her six children, two sons, Jay (Donna) Thompson of Freeport and William (Loretta) Thompson of South Buffalo Township, and four daughters Judy (Rudy) Markus of Jefferson Township, Susan (Barry) Check of Worthington, Sallie (John) Lucchino, of Gilpin Township and Wendy (Richard) Olszewski, of Freeport. She also is survived by 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, two stepgrandchildren and 10 stepgreat- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her five sisters, Margaret Keefer, Matilda Barr, Mercedes Craig, Mary McConville and Phyllis Barr; her brother, Regis Barr, and an infant brother and sister.

<B>Thompson</B> — Family and friends of Jane D. Thompson, who passed away Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Redmond Funeral Home</B>, 524 High St., Freeport. A parish wake service will be in the funeral home at 8:30 p.m. today.A parting prayer service will be in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary, Mother of God Church, Freeport, at 10 a.m. Tuesday with Father Edward Volz officiating.Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery Freeport.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley, 533 Linden Ave., New Kensington, PA 16068 or to Good Samaritan Hospice Unit at Concordia, 134 Marwood Road, Cabot, PA 16023.To send a condolence, visit www.redmondfuneralhomeinc.com.
