Free Outdoor Discovery programs, hosted by the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department, take place Thursdays at Alameda Park. Today’s program at 6:30 p.m. in the Carousel Shelter is a Nature Expo from Penn State Extension. The program July 2 will be “Mammals and More.”

Jennings Environmental Education Center, Route 528, Brady Township, will host EYE Con Summer Science Camp from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 3 to 7; registration is required. Celebrate the Bloom! activities will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. July 18. The 3MJC friends meeting at 7 p.m. July 15 will discuss geocaching. Jennings is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and on weekends as scheduled. The trails are open daily from sunrise to sunset. Call 724-794-6011.

Moraine State Park, Muddy Creek Township, will have an Explore Offshore kayaking program 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Call the park office at 724-368-8811 for reservations.

McConnells Mill State Park, Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, off Route 422, presents “Fireflies!” from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, meeting at the Kildoo Picnic area pavilion, and “A Taste of History” featuring Dutch oven cooking from noon to 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the gristmill courtyard. The mill is open through the end of September from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays. Interpretive tours are available at 1 and 3 p.m.
