BUFFALO TWP — Josh Richards of Shinnston, W.Va., took the checkered flag in the World of Outlaws 30-lap Late Model feature Friday night at Lernerville Speedway.

The race paid $6,000 to win and was supposed to be the second leg of the three-night Firecracker 100 show at the Sarver oval. Thursday night’s race card was rained out, however.

Thursday’s postponed races — culminating with another 30-lap Late Model feature — was scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Saturday. The Firecracker 100 — a 100-lap feature paying $30,000 to the winner — remains slated for Saturday night.

Richards, a former Firecracker 100 champion, beat out Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Ga., for the victory Friday. Brandon Overton of Appleton, Ga., was third.

The highest finishing Lernerville regular was Russ King, who took fifth after winning his heat race. Jared Miley of South Park made the feature by winning a last-chance qualifier and finished sixth.
