Tourism bureau eyeing storage space
The Butler County Tourism & Convention Bureau has received a $225,000 grant from the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program to acquire land in Butler Township.
Jack Cohen, president of the bureau, said the bureau requested $1.25 million through the grant program to purchase the building on Barracks Road to store its antique vehicles. The bureau currently leases the building.
He said the bureau plans to eventually open the facility to visitors who want to view its Bantam and Jeep vehicles, which are typically displayed at special events.
Cohen said he will discuss the grant’s use with the Butler County board of commissioners, since the bureau got less than it requested.
“I have no timeline for the space … we have been renting it for about a year now,” Cohen said. “We'll just continue to press forward.”
