Beverly McAnallen

Beverly J. McAnallen, 79, of Arlington, Va., formerly of Butler, died Nov. 21 in her home from complications due to cancer.

For nearly four decades, she was secretary to the Surgeons General of the U.S. Army.

Born on Dec. 13, 1933, in Butler, Beverly was the daughter of the late Madelynne (McDonald) Young and the late Theodore McAnallen.

Beverly graduated from Butler Senior High School in 1950 and thereafter relocated to Virginia where she was employed by the United States Government at the Pentagon.

She was passionate about her career and respected for her intelligence, wit and style. She was an avid football fan who enjoyed the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Washington Redskins. She was fiercely loyal to her friends and loved her family immensely.

Beverly is survived by her brother, Ronald McAnallen of Bethany Beach, Del.; her sister, Carole McAnallen of Redondo Beach, Calif.; her nephew; two nieces; four great-nephews; and two great-nieces.
