Mary Honoway
Mary Honoway, 95, daughter of the late Max and Anna Sawka, passed away Monday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice with her family at her side.
Born and raised in Dearborn, Mich., she married William Honoway in 1954.
She was a corporate secretary for DTE Energy in Detroit, Mich., retiring in 1984.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles, sewing, dancing, and her cats, flower gardens and sweets of all kind.
She is survived by her brother, Harry (Barb) Sawka of Dearborn, Mich., and her children, Daniel (Deborah) Honoway of Novi, Mich., Marilyn Honoway of Dearborn Heights, Mich., and Cathy (Mike) Reese of Butler. She was a loving grandmother to Shelly Honoway, Chris Honoway, Kym (Ryan) Grigsby, Jay (Kelli) Berger, Joel Berger, Christine Cochran, Melissa McAnallen, and Allison (Chris) Whelan, and great-grandmother to Lani Berger and Nathan McAnallen. Also surviving are her many nieces and nephews, and her cat, Heidi.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William in 1998, and her siblings, William, John and Nancy.
The family has a special thank you to the compassionate staff at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for her care during the past 2½ years and to all those at the VNA Hospice for making her final journey one of peace.
