SRU men's hoops fall at Iowa, 99-47

IOWA CITY — Slippery Rock University’s men’s basketball team dropped a 99-47 decision to Iowa in an exhibition game Friday night at the Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Playing without three projected starters, SRU trailed the Hawkeyes by only 13 points with five minutes left in the first half. Iowa closed the half with a 10-0 run to take a 41-18 lead into halftime.

Iowa scored 30 of the first 32 points in the second half to put the game away.

Amante Britt paced The Rock with 10 points, three rebounds and two steals. Patrick McCaffery paced Iowa with 18 points and eight rebounds.

SRU opens the regular season next weekend, hosting Notre Dame (Ohio) Friday and Alderson Broaddus Saturday in the Tip-Off Challenge at Morrow Field House. SRU’s game with Notre Dame begins at 5 p.m.
