Arlene J. Powers

Arlene J. Powers, 80, of Saxonburg passed away Sunday at the Saxony Health Center.

Born Sept. 7, 1936, in Hampton Township, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Thomas and Helen Ferguson Thomas.

Arlene was a 1954 graduate of Mars High School. She was a member of the Cabot United Methodist Church. Arlene enjoyed keeping a spotless home and loved to travel, shop and garden. She doted on her grandchildren and was a dedicated mother and grandmother.

Surviving are her children Jim (Kathy) Powers of Valencia, Tim Powers of Frederick, Md., and Sharon (Gale) McManus of Saxonburg; her granddaughter Stephanie (Jon) Mostoller of Butler; her grandson Jonathan Powers of Valencia; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Laird Powers, whom she married April 13, 1957, and who died June 6, 2016; and her brothers Delroy Thomas and Albert “Butch” Thomas.

POWERS — Friends of Arlene J. Powers, who died Sunday, July 30, 2017, will be received from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Fox Funeral Home, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.

Services will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Kelly Angleberger officiating. Interment will follow at the Harkleroad Cemetery, Rural Valley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
