BOSTON — Lelisa Desisa and Rita Jeptoo crossed the finish line to win the Boston Marathon three hours before the bombs exploded that killed three people and injured 140.

Desisa, of Ethiopia, won a three-way sprint down Boylston Street to finish in 2 hours, 10 minutes, 22 seconds and snap a string of three consecutive Kenyan victories.

Jeptoo, 32, averted the Kenyan shutout by winning the women's race for the second time

CINCINNATI — The Reds have lost top starter Johnny Cueto for at least a few weeks because of a strained muscle in his back.The defending NL Central champions put Cueto on the 15-day disabled list.

CHICAGO — The Chicago Cubs and the City of Chicago say they have completed a $500 million pact to overhaul Wrigley Field.The agreement includes $300 million in stadium renovations that will feature a large new outfield video screen.
