SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University freshman Mariah Burns has been named PSAC Female Field Athlete of the Week.
Burns won the triple jump and placed fourth in the long jump during her collegiate debut among the predominantly Division I field at the Youngstown State Icebreaker.
She posted NCAA provisional qualifying marks in both events.
WASHINGTON, Pa. — Tim McNerney, a senior running back at Washington & Jefferson College who died Oct. 4, was named to the D3Football.com third-team All-South Region squad.McNerney had 89 carries for 461 yards and eight touchdowns in four games this season and was a consensus first-team all-PAC selection.
PITTSBURGH — Seneca Valley graduate Margaret Gillooly was one of five Point Park women's volleyball players to be named to the Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete and one of 408 in the country.Gillooly has a 3.7 GPA and is majoring in advertising and public relations.
GROVE CITY — Grove City College women's soccer players Sarah Cessar and Sam Web2r have earned all-Great Lakes Region honiors.Cessar, a Slippery Rock graduate, earned first team honors as a midfielder. She scored four goals, four assists and 12 points.Weber, a Freeport graduate, earned second team honors after leading the Wolverines with 13 goals and 30 points this season.
Gannon freshman forward and Mars graduate Mani Brueckner and Slippery Rock University senior defender Emer Flatley have been named second team NCAA Division II Women's Soccer All-America this season.Brueckner was the regional Player of the Year. Flatley anchored a defense that allowed only 19 goals in 23 games this year.
