DeGraaf, Lucas help GCC volleyball win

GROVE CITY — Seneca Valley graduate Anna DeGraaf and Butler graduate Gabby Lucas helped Grove City College post a 3-2 women’s volleyball win over Westminster Tuesday night.

DeGraaf had 11 kills and five blocks. Lucas recorded a career-high 35 assists. Freeport graduate Lauren Lampus had 11 kills, 18 digs and four blocks for Westminster.

Evans City pair lead early winner

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Play For Me made her first career start a winning one for trainer Gary Johnston and his son, driver Shawn Johnston — both of Evans City — during harness racing action Tuesday at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

Abigail and Grace Wright, both of Butler, campaign the 2-year-old filly, which won a $9,000 Conditioned Pace in her first career start.

Elsewhere on Tuesday’s card, Dandy’s Starlette rolled to her third straight victory for trainer Nathan Bresnahan of Butler.
