C. Dean “Speed” Larimore,

C. Dean “Speed” Larimore, 90, of Karns City, passed away peacefully at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Chicora Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

Dean was born Sept. 29, 1926, in Parker's Landing. He was the son of the late Harry W. and Viola S. Sweeney Larimore.

Mr. Larimore was a member of Fairview Presbyterian Church. He was a 32nd degree mason and a member of Argyle Lodge 540 F. & A.M. of Chicora and A.A.S.R Valley of New Castle.

Dean was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II having served in the Pacific, and he was a member of the Bradys Bend American Legion.

“Speed” was member of Penn-West 23 camping group and the SOI in Bradys Bend. He enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, golfing and sitting in the sun on his back porch with his dog, Maggie Mae.

In 2002, Mr. Larimore graduated from Karns City High School with his grandson, Andrew, receiving an honorary diploma under a special honors program for U.S. veterans. His diploma was presented by his son, Michael, who was serving on the school board at the time.

He retired in 1990 following 46 years of service at Witco Chemical in Petrolia.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Hiles Larimore on July 1, 2007. The couple was married July 24, 1947, in Petrolia.

Surviving is his daughter, Patsy Larimore of Karns City (Sarah Johns of Cabot); his son, Michael D. Larimore and his wife, Donna, of Karns City; two grandchildren, Alison D. Perry and her husband, Vance, of Chicora and Andrew M. Larimore and his wife, Brittney, of Karns City; seven great-grandchildren, Michael Perry, twins Isabella and Madelyn Perry, twins Graham and Beck Larimore, and twins Oaklyn and Novah Larimore; his brother-in-law, Raymond Horneman of Mesa, Ariz.; four sisters-in-law, Esther Senopole and her husband, Jim, of Butler, Roseann Hiles and Loretta Hiles of Sun City, Ariz., and Susan Larimore, of Emlenton; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, William Larimore, Herbert W. Larimore and Ronald Larimore; and two sisters, Barbara J. Horneman and Caroline Irwin.

LARIMORE — Friends of C. Dean “Speed” Larimore, who died Wednesday, April 26, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, 128 Main St., Karns City.Members of the Argyle Lodge 540 F. & A.M. of Chicora will conduct a memorial service for their departed brother at 6:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jim Lewis, pastor of the Karns City United Methodist Church, officiating.Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the Bradys Bend, East Brady and Chicora American Legion Posts.
