Anna Evelyn Minteer Kruggel

Kruggel

Anna Evelyn (Minteer) Kruggel of Tucson, Ariz., went to be with our Lord on Oct. 22.

She was born Anna Evelyn in 1918 to Joseph Warren and Ada Irene Dunkle Minteer on a farm near Worthington.

She graduated from Worthington High School in 1937.

Anna married Warren A. Graham in 1940. They had two children, Caryl, who died in 1971, and Larry.

Anna worked as a farm wife, a factory worker, a cafeteria cook, but was most happy working as a beautician. She had her own shop, built by Warren, in the basement of their home near Slippery Rock, where they lived for many years.

In 1980, they retired and moved to Tucson, Ariz., to be near Larry. In Tucson Anna began a new career, providing child care at churches and in homes. This allowed her to “raise” more children. She was also active in a church quilting circle. Anna made many beautiful quilts, all hand stitched.

Anna was widowed in 1992 after 52 happy years of marriage. In 1997, she married Marvin Kruggel, who she met at church. They married three months after their first date as they said, they did not have a lot of time left. She was 78 and Marvin was 87. It turned out they had 12 wonderful years together before Marvin died in 2009.

Anna is survived by her son, Larry; her three grandsons, Greg, Jason and Vince; her granddaughter, Sherri; and her great-grandchildren, Shaun, Kelson, Jeffrey and Anna.

KRUGGEL — A celebration of the life of Anna Evelyn (Minteer) Kruggel, who passed away Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Catalina Church of Midtown, 1900 N. Country Club Road, Tucson, Ariz.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Anna’s memory to a charity called Save the Children.
