ADAMS TWP — Mars High School baseball coach and math teacher Andy Bednar is joining the Sto-Rox School District Sports Hall of Fame.

A Sto-Rox graduate, Bednar earned seven varsity letters in football and baseball there and played on a WPIAL championship baseball team.

Huskies capture hockey tourneyWARRENDALE — The Pittsburgh Huskies U18AA hockey team captured the Wildcats Winter Shootout hosted by the North Pittsburgh at Warrendale BladeRunners.The Huskies defeated the Arctic Foxes 4-0, lost to the Foxes 5-3 and tied the Allegheny Badgers 3-3 in preliminary play, then downed the Foxes 4-1 in the championship game.John Strasbaugh had three goals while Logan Lazor, Jeramiah Rowe, Nate Medic and John Bird added two goals apiece.Cody Bachman had four assists, Jake Tomasovic three and Jake Whann, Dan Greene and Hunter Anthony two each.Grant Donnelly and Christian Knapp shared goaltending duties.Ed Schwadron, Reed Salada, Joe Cippel, Tyler Andrews, Levi Rodgers and Kevin Lui round of the championship team.

Ex-Pirate Cedeno signs with MetsNEW YORK — A person familiar with the negotiations tells The Associated Press that shortstop Ronny Cedeno and the New York Mets have agreed to a $1.15 million, one-year contract.
