CVN elects DeFurio as chairman
JEFFERSON TWP — The board of directors of Concordia Visiting Nurses recently elected Ken DeFurio as chairman.
DeFurio is president and CEO of Butler Health System, and previously served as the board’s vice chairman.
DeFurio replaces longtime chairman, Keith Frndak, president and CEO of Concordia Lutheran Ministries, who will continue to serve as vice chairman.
“We are looking forward to having Ken serve as the new board chairman,” said Martin Trettel, president/CEO of CVN, who also serves as a director on the board.
“He is a very successful leader in the health care industry, and is a great choice to continue our efforts and improvements for a seamless transition of care for patients from a hospital setting back into the comforts of their own homes.”
DeFurio has been with Butler Health System since 1989, holding the titles of department director, vice president of outpatient services and chief operations officer. He has been president and CEO of the health system since 2006.
“Healthcare continues to experience tremendous change,” DeFurio said. “We are proud to assure excellent care for our community through partnerships such as this.”
A subsidiary of Cabot–based senior care provider CLM, CVN is a comprehensive, Medicare/Medicaid-certified home health care organization serving more than 10,000 people annually in their own homes.
In September 2015, the agency partnered with Butler Health System and three other regional hospitals: Heritage Valley Health System, St. Clair Hospital and Washington Health System. CVN and all four hospital partners are nonprofit organizations and share a common mission for patient care.
In addition to DeFurio, Frndak and Trettel, the CVN board of directors also consists of Dr. John Reefer of Butler Health System, Norm Mitry and Bryan Randall of Heritage Valley Health System, James Collins and Michael Flanagan of St. Clair Hospital, and Gary Weinstein and Brook Ward of Washington Health System. The board of directors meets quarterly to discuss operational and strategic planning for the agency.
