Man pleads guilty in case
A former Penn Township man has acknowledged assaulting a young boy more than 20 years ago.
In Butler County Court Thursday, defendant Kurt E. Wolf, 49, pleaded guilty to a first-degree felony count of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of a child under the age of 16 and a misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of children.
In exchange for his plea, prosecutors will recommend Wolf face 3 to 10 years in prison.
The allegations against Wolf were waged last fall when the victim, a 27-year-old man, learned Wolf was in the position to victimize a 4-year-old child.
Court records say the victim told an investigator that when he found out about the child, “he knew he had to act. He told me that he has been living with this for years and wanted everyone to know that (Wolf) molested him when he was a child. He was in fear for (the 4-year-old) and any other child that may have had contact with (Wolf).”
The man alleged Wolf forced him to watch and perform sex acts in 1993 and 1994. The assaults reportedly took place in Wolfs’ home, which was then in the Port-O-Call trailer park in Penn Township, as well as a hunting camp in Tionesta, Forest County.
The victim was in the court room when Wolf entered his plea, but did not speak.
“He was pleased with the arrangement,” Assistant District Attorney B.T. Fullerton said of the victim.
Defense attorney Matthew Fischer could not be reached for comment.
Butler County Judge Timothy McCune, who accepted the plea, decided Wolf would be sentenced only after the defendant can be evaluated by a member of the state’s sexual offender assessment board.
That likely will be in January.
The defendant will be required to register his whereabouts with the state police for the rest of his life regardless of the assessment board findings.
