St. Luke students get free lunch boxes, more

Six-year-old cancer survivor Kristofer Robinson hands out lunch bags to his classmates Friday in fulfillment of a wish. The kindergartner at St. Luke Lutheran School in Cabot wished for his entire class to receive Tupperware products as part of the company's 1,000 wishes contest.

CABOT — A St. Luke Lutheran School kindergarten class went home with new Tupperware lunch boxes on Friday, thanks to a 6-year-old classmate's wish.

Kristofer Robinson had wished for Tupperware products for his class and for a new bike, through the annual Tupperware 1,000 wishes contest. More than 1,500 wishes were entered, but Kristofer was among 20 to get their wishes granted.

Asked why he wanted to give Tupperware to his classmates, he said, “'Cause I'm nice, and that's the right thing to do. And I love Tupperware!”

The big-hearted boy is also 3-and-a-half years cancer-free. He lost a leg from his cancer battle, but is playful and very mobile using a set of crutches. His mother, Rachel Robinson of Jefferson Township, presented the supplies at his school on Friday. She is a Tupperware consultant.

“Why would we want to use something that's reuseable?” she asked students during the schoolwide assembly. “It takes almost 500 years for a (disposable) bottle or a bag to break down.”

His classmates excitedly held their new blue and pink camouflage lunch boxes, complete with sandwich, snack and drink containers.

The rest of the students and teachers at the school received Tupperware reusable water bottles. A Tupperware bottle mascot also came to the school to cheer them on. Supplies distributed to the students totaled more than $2,900.

There are 168 students in kindergarten through eighth grade at the school.

Tupperware also granted another one of Kristofer's wishes: he received a bicycle for Christmas. It comes with a special pedal and biker clip adjustments just for him.
