Ethel “Tootie” Smith, 87, of Harmony passed away Monday while under the care of Evergreen Nursing Center.

Born Feb. 14, 1926, in Connoquenessing, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Esther (Burr) McClelland.

For 60 years, she worked as a waitress at the Kaufman House in town.

Tootie was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Zelienople. She enjoyed going to breakfast with her girlfriends and cherished the time spent with her granddaughters. Above all, she was a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her three daughters, Sherry Chmara and her husband, Paul, of Cranberry Township, Cheryl Whitehouse and her husband, Paul, of Zelienople and Linda Ward and her husband, Brian, of Quartzsite, Ariz.; her two granddaughters, Kara and Megan, and two great-grandchildren, Michael and Keanna.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Smith, who passed away Aug. 23, 1993; her two brothers, Frank and James McClelland; and one sister, Ruth Grinder.

SMITH — The family of Ethel “Tootie” Smith, who passed away Monday, May 13, 2013, will welcome friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.

A funeral ceremony will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 215 N. Main St., Zelienople, with the Rev. Robert A. Keplinger officiating. Friends Please meet at the church. She will be laid to rest at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made in her honor in support of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 215 N. Main St., Zelienople, PA, 16063.
