George Rader

George H. Rader, 74, of Unionville passed away at 1:45 a.m. Tuesday in the VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler, following a three-year illness of cancer.

He was born Dec. 22, 1937, in Center Township, and was the son of the late William and Amy Studebaker Rader.

Mr. Rader was a past member of the Muddy Creek Presbyterian Church, and a current member of the Mountville Presbyterian Church, Portersville.

He retired in April 1993 from the former Butler Armco Steel, now AK Steel, where he worked as a foreman in the maintenance department.

George was a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard of Pennsylvania.

His hobbies were spending time with his grandchildren, reading, playing cards with other couples and raising beef cattle on his family farm in Portersville.

He is survived by his wife, Jean McBride Rader, who he married on April 25, 1958, in the Muddy Creek Presbyterian Church; his children, Darla (Bruce) Colletti of Alexandria, Va., George W. (Tina) Rader of Unionville and Donald H. (Kelly) Rader of Unionville; five grandchildren, Lindsay, Zach, Tyler, Josh and Mia Rader, all of Unionville; his siblings, Edward Rader of Los Angeles, Esther Shelatree of Boyers and Nettie (Don) Dodds of Grove City; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Rader and Lyle Rader.

RADER — Family and friends of George H. Rader, who passed away Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home, 387 Main St., Prospect.The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home, with the Rev. Don Hurray officiating.
