Wilson G. Tirk Jr., 69, of Butler passed away Thursday at his residence.

He was born in Butler on Dec. 13, 1942, and was the son of the late Wilson G. Tirk Sr. and Ida L. DeMucci.

Wilson was employed at Wise Machine Company, retiring in 1994 after 30 years of service. He was an avid hunter who enjoyed his camp, gardening, collecting guns and, mostly, his family.

He was a member of Saint Andrew Roman Catholic Church and the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by his wife, Carol “Karen” Zarnick Tirk, to whom he was married for 53 years; one daughter, Pamela Shultz and her husband, Robert, of Butler; two sons, Jon Tirk Sr., and his wife, Michelle, of Butler and Matthew Tirk and his wife, Kristi, of Butler; two brothers, Robert M. Tirk and his wife, Sue, of Bruin and Patrick Tirk and his wife, Frances, of Herman; five grandchildren, B.J. Shultz, Jon Jon Tirk Jr., Leesa Tirk, Richele Shultz and David Tirk, all of Butler; one great-grandchild, Ava Tirk of Butler; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Daniel and John Tirk, and one infant sister.

TIRK — Friends of Wilson G. Tirk Jr., who died Thursday, June 7, 2012, will be received at the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Saint Michael the Archangel R.C. Church on Monday at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery.The bereavement group of Saint Michael the Archangel Parish will meet at the funeral home Sunday at 3 p.m. to conduct a scriptural wake service.To leave an online condolence, visit www.martinfh.net.
