Shawn Christopher Dancik
Shawn Christopher Dancik, 40, of Germantown, Md., lost his battle with double-hit lymphoma and passed away Saturday at his home.
He was born in Butler on Jan. 10, 1974, at Butler Memorial Hospital, the son of Dennis and Diane (Broerman) Dancik.
He graduated from Butler High School, Wheeling-Jesuit University, and the University of Tennessee Space Institute.
He was employed as a rocket scientist at Johns-Hopkins Applied Physics Lab.
He was the beloved husband of Chantée M. Dancik; the loving father of Kira Lynn Dancik, Hailey Noel Dancik, and Marcus Scott Dancik, all at home; the loving son of Dennis and Diane Dancik; the brother of Brian (Rebecca) M. Dancik; the brother-in-law of Donald L. McClellan and Kimberly R. Frankenfield; the grandson of Joan M. Broerman and the late Kenneth O. Broerman; and the late Paul J. and Ann C. Dancik.
He is also survived by his niece and his numerous nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Kenneth O. Broerman; his paternal grandparents, Paul and Ann Dancik; his uncles, Denis and K. Daniel Broerman, and his cousin, Jonathan Broerman.
Dancik— The friends of Shawn Christopher Dancik, who passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014, may call at the DeVol Funeral Home, 10 E. Deer Park Drive, Gaithersburg, Md., from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at the St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, 11701 Clopper Road, Gaithersburg, Md., at 11 a.m. Saturday.
