Julia E. Lukes

Julia E. Lukes, 94, of Zelienople passed away on Tuesday while under the care of Passavant Retirement Community in Zelienople.

Born Oct. 10, 1923, in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late Balint and Mary Toth Birtalan.

Julia was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church and belonged to the St. Anne's Guild and Altar Society.

She was a 1943 graduate of Lincoln High School in Ellwood City.

She enjoyed participating in a Hungarian dance group during her youth.

Julia was employed as a payroll clerk at U.S. Steel Tube Mill from 1943 until 1949.

She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.

Julia leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons, Denis J. Lukes and his wife, Trudy, of Zelienople, and John E. Lukes of Beaver Falls; her grandchildren, Mallory Rossini and her husband, Adam, of Winter Park, Fla., Zachary Lukes of Pittsburgh, Madeline Lukes of Ambridge, and Clayton Lukes of Manassas, Va.; and her brother, Bert Birtalan of Wampum.

In addition to her parents, Julia was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Lukes, whom she married on Oct. 15, 1949, and who passed away on June 5, 2003; and her brother, Benedict Birtalan.

LUKES — Friends of Julia E. Lukes, who died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018, will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of the blessing service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Boylan Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Connoquenessing Township, 856 Evans City Road, Renfrew.Julia will be laid to rest at the Zelienople Community Mausoleum.Memorial donations in Julia's honor may be made to St. Gregory Catholic Church, 2 W.
