1 killed, 3 others injured in multi-vehicle I-79 crash

MUDDY CREEK — A Greenville man was killed and three others were injured in a multi-vehicle crash Wednesday along Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township.

According to state police, Harry Hibbard, 58, suffered fatal injuries at the scene.

One person was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh by helicopter for suspected serious injuries. Two others were transported by emergency services. One was taken to UPMC Jameson in New Castle for possible injury, while the other person with suspected minor injuries was also transported.

The crash occurred around 4:50 p.m. when a Chevrolet Silverado traveling south on I-79 crossed the center median into northbound lanes, police said. The vehicle hit a Chevrolet Trailblazer head-on, and the Trailblazer then hit a third vehicle, according to police.

State police are still investigating the crash.
