Man charged with attempted robbery
HARRISON TWP - A Clinton Township man was arrested on charges tried to rob a gas station in Allegheny County.
Harrison Township Police allege 49-year-old Thomas McCune Jr. walked into the BP on Freeport Road around 8: 30 p.m. Wednesday and handed the female clerk a note that said if she did not turn over money, he would hurt her.
The clerk, according to police, responded that she’d already set off a silent alarm and police were on the way. McCune then allegedly fled, but witnesses were able to provide police with information about the suspect and his vehicle. McCune was arrested shortly after without incident, police said.
Court records say McCune has been arraigned on a first-degree felony charge of attempted robbery. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 8 before District Judge Carolyn Bengel.
