Store reopens after fire

FRANKLIN TWP — The fire-damaged Trader Horn store on Route 422 reopened Friday.

An electrical fire on Oct. 18 closed the store, which is the original Trader Horn built in Butler County.

Pat Green, operations manager, said work still needs to be done to the roof. He said the store likely will get a new roof.

He could not provide a cost estimate of the damage.

“We’re working on it,” Green said.

The fire started in the front corner of the store about 10 a.m. and spread up the wall and back the second floor ceiling and roof. No one was injured.

Green said no merchandise was destroyed.

About 50 firefighters from Prospect, Portersville, Unionville, Connoquenessing, Slippery Rock, Butler Township Fire District 3, Mercer Road, Lick Hill and Princeton, Lawrence County, volunteer fire departments responded. The Butler Fire Department also assisted with a ladder truck.
