Chester Huhn
The Rev. Dr. Chester “Jerry” Gerald Huhn, 83, of Connoquenessing Township, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022, while under the care of Shelbourne Personal Care Home in Butler.
Born June 7, 1939, in Uniontown, he was the son of the late Oliver Huhn and Hattie Nehls Huhn.
Jerry earned his bachelor of arts degree from Waynesburg College in June of 1962, his bachelor of divinity from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in May of 1966, his master of sacred theology in May of 1972 and his doctor of ministry from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary in May of 1985.
Jerry faithfully served as pastor of many Lutheran churches throughout his life, as well as chaplaincy for several nursing facilities. Even after retirement, he continued to serve in many interim positions and stand-ins for the churches in the Butler area.
Jerry leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 42 years, Lana Huhn; his son, Christopher; his brother, Bill (Cynthia) Huhn; his sisters-in-law, Cheryl Bean, Trudy Wassel and Denise Arnold; his brother and sister-in-law, Douglas and Jeannie Arnold; his godson, Andrew Bean; and his nieces and nephews, Mary Katherine, DJ, Kevin, Anna, Christian, Marlena, Grant and Jeff.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his daughter, Melanie Huhn; and his sister, Shirley.
HUHN — The family of the Rev. Dr. Chester “Jerry” Gerald Huhn, who died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022, will receive friends for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at noon Monday, Oct. 17, 2022, at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTER OF CONNOQUENESSING TOWNSHIP, 856 Evans City Road, Renfrew, with Pastor Joel Benson officiating. A sermon will be given by Bishop Kurt Kusserow.
