Audubon Society offers scholarship for teacher

The Bartramian Audubon Society, a chapter of the National Audubon Society, is offering a scholarship to a teacher in the county for professional development.

The recipient will attend the Audubon Camp on Hog Island, Maine, for a program called, “Sharing nature: An Educator’s Week.”

Scheduled for July 20-25, this session is to help teachers integrate environmental education into their classes.

Instructed by naturalists and environmental educators, the teachers will participate in workshops and field trips that teach inquiry-based science in the context of the forest, intertidal and ocean ecosystems of the Maine coast.

Applications for the scholarship will be accepted until Feb. 28. For more information or to apply, check Bartramian Audubon’s website at www.bartramianaudubon.org or contact the chapter’s education chair at 814-330-2550.
