Joseph B. Spring Sr.
Joseph B. Spring Sr., 94, of 325 Third St., Butler, died Thursday at VA Butler Heathcare.
He was born in Pittsburgh on Oct. 17, 1918. He was the son of Arthur J. Spring Sr. and Catherine Dollar Spring.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Honolulu (CL 48).
He was a proud retiree of Armco Steel with 45 years of service.
He was a member of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Butler.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen L. Raskovsky Spring; two brothers, Arthur J. Spring Jr. and William Spring; and two sisters, Catherine M. Spring and Delores E. Shriver.
Surviving are his daughter, Carol A. Day of Wadsworth, Ohio; his son, Joseph B. Spring Jr. of Butler; his grandson and his wife, Richard J. and Sally Day of Wadsworth, Ohio; two great-grandchildren: Emily and Nathaniel Day; as well as and a number of nieces and nephews.
Spring — Friends of Joseph B. Spring Sr., who died Thursday, May 2, 2013, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St., Butler. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.The Women's Council of St. Peter's will meet at 9:40 a.m. Monday at the church to recite the rosary.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
