Irene Conoran

Irene (Meinert) Conoran, 100, of Wexford passed away Wednesday.

Born on Jan. 4, 1914, she was the daughter of Andrew and Flora (Kalchthaler) Meinert.

She was the wife of the late Joseph W. “Woody” Conoran, who she married on Aug. 1, 1942, in Butler.

She is survived by her sons, James E. and John F. Conoran of Wexford; her sisters, Rita “Sis” Greiner of Cranberry Township and Theresa “Dolly” Pegher of Wexford; her grandson, Michael (Cheri) Conoran of Bruin; her granddaughters, Vicki (Keith) Witsch of North Carolina, Melissa (Todd) Crawford of Harmony and Debbi (Steve) Reid, Lori (Rosario) Maiolo, Megan Conoran and Juli (Ryan) Porter, all of Wexford; and her 15 great-grandchildren.

She attended St. Alphonsus School.

She worked on the family farm and also worked as an operator for Bell Telephone.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, William Elser and Andrew “Bud” Meinert, and four sisters, Mildred Scholl, Rosemary and Dorothy Meinert, and Flora Mason.

Conoran — The friends of Irene Conoran, who passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014, will be received at the GEORGE A. THOMA FUNERAL HOME in Wexford from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Alphonsus, Wexford.
