Wayne Alan Burk Sr.

Wayne Alan Burk Sr., 51, of Grove City, Liberty Township, passed away at Butler Health System on Monday evening, following a long battle with heart disease.

Wayne was born June 16, 1966, in Grove City, and graduated from Grove City High School in 1984. He married Margaret Katherine “Granny” Kougher, on Sept. 15, 1990.

Wayne did maintenance work for the James Austin Company in Mars.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with the guys, playing pool, boating and being with his kids. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 584 and a member and social member of the Stanley Snyder VFW, Post 7465.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret “Granny” Burk, of Grove City; three sons, Wayne A. Burk Jr., Dalton L. Burk and Austin T. Burk and companion, Shawna, all of Grove City; a daughter, Jennifer Dixon, of Harrisville; his mother, Alyceann (Woolcutt) Whetzel and husband, Donald, of Grove City; his father, Lawrence Findley “Sonny” Burk and wife, Bonnie, of Grove City; and a brother, Michael L. Burk; three nephews, Justin, Jared and Michael, all of Grove City; three granddaughters, Nadyah Burk, Leena and Madie; a grandson, Dakota; and several cousins.

BURK — Family of Wayne Alan Burk Sr., who died Monday, Sept. 4, 2017, will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Smith Funeral Home, Village of Leesburg, 1778 Perry Hwy., Volant, Pa. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday also at the funeral home with Rod Burk of Grace Harvest Church, a cousin of Wayne, and the Rev. Kenton Shaw co-presiding. Interment will be in West Sunbury Union Cemetery.
