Maron Brown scored 18 points and Denell Stephens added 14 points and 10 rebounds, but the Slippery Rock University men's basketball team fell to Gannon 80-60 in PSAC-West action Wednesday.

Gannon (13-2, 2-1), the pre-season conference favorite and No. 4 ranked in a national pre-season poll, shot 50.9 percent from the floor and connected on 16 of 17 free throws.

SRU (10-6, 1-2) shot 37.3 percent from the field.

Grove City High graduate Julie Molloy scored 19 points — 15 coming on five 3-pointers — but The Rock women lost to Gannon 79-72 in overtime.Amanda Nero added 13 points and Sasha Sales added 10 points and 10 rebounds for SRU (6-10, 1-2).Jess Schake had nine points and eight rebounds and Nikki Presto added six points, six rebounds and six assists for SRU. Gannon improved to 14-2, 2-1 in the PSAC-West.

Alli Zubie and Katie Sines each had a hat trick and Annastasia Pyzik scored one goal Saturday in The Rock's 7-3 victory over Indiana (Pa.) University.Lora Gasiewski and Carly Hockenberry recorded assists.
