Charles 'Boob' Albert
Charles “Boob” Albert, 72, of Slippery Rock passed away at 10 p.m. Saturday at Allegheny General Hospital following a three-year battle with cancer.
He was born March 7, 1940, in Franklin Township, Butler County. He was the son of the late Lewis A. Albert and the late Daisy Schontz Albert.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He had been employed at Allegheny Mineral and was a foreman for Adobe Mining.
He was a member of the Muddycreek Presbyterian Church, where he was a past trustee and elder. He also was a township supervisor for six years for both Marion and Brady townships. He did beautiful work with wood, stained glass and stone.
Charles married the former Shirley McCurdy on July 24, 1964, who survives. Also surviving are their two children, Sally Albert at home and David Charles Albert and his wife, Shannon, of Slippery Rock and four grandchildren, Atticus Charles, Seth Steven, Samantha and Madison. Also surviving are one sister, Delores West and her husband, Bill, of Greenville; one brother, Everett Ronald Albert and his wife, Sherry, of Harrisville; one sister-in-law, Doris Albert of Harrisville; three nieces; and 12 nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
ALBERT — A memorial service for Charles “Boob” Albert, who passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, will be at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main St., West Sunbury, at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. James Lewis officiating. Burial was private.
