President’s blunder signals desperate times

Not even the President’s spokesperson could produce an explanation for President Joe Biden’s latest gaffe. This time, he called out to a deceased member of the House of Representatives while giving a speech.

As politicians love to do; he was trying to pretend he had a close relationship with her and was giving her a plug from the podium. She had made national news three weeks earlier because she and two of her staff had died in a crash in her home state of Indiana.

Apparently, they weren’t that close, as he was unaware that she had been dead for three weeks. He called out to her three times before saying, “she must not be here.” That should settle once and for all the fact that neither leading candidate for President in 2024 is of sound mind to continue in politics. Neither Biden nor former President Donald Trump has done anything in the past year that makes them a viable candidate in 2024.

Both parties need to step back a few miles, not steps, and really look at what is good for their party, their country and the world. Do we dare allow either of these men to match wits with Russians or the Chinese? The Republicans spend most of their time defending Trump’s past and Democrats are spending more and more time defending whether Biden remembers any of his.

This editorial won’t make any friends for us, but it’s as serious a position as we can make about these two and not place it on the comics page. At least it takes some of the attention away from how much an attorney general is willing to spend to buy the governor’s position or what pictures of his opponent wearing Nazi or confederate garments may appear next.

Has there ever been a worse time for politics in Pennsylvania or the United States? Today “God Bless America” has a rather desperate tone to it.
