Wayne A. Mahaffy
Wayne A. Mahaffy, 93, of Mars died Tuesday evening at Concordia of Cranberry, with his family at his side.
Born in Warren, Pa., on June 20, 1920, he was the son of the late Perry and Ula Woodruff Mahaffy.
Wayne spent his entire career with the United States Postal Service in Michigan, California and Pennsylvania, before retiring as a postal inspector in 1975.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War.
A collector of World War II model aircraft, he also enjoyed baking and woodworking.
Wayne was a member of the Mars United Presbyterian Church, where he had been an elder and was active on the A-team.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Kathryn Karl Mahaffy, who he married on May 3, 1941, and who died on Sept. 1, 2005. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Gwen Anderson and his brother, Roger Mahaffy.
Surviving are his two daughters, Judith Levenstein and her husband, Alan, of Northridge, Calif., and Cristine Graham and her husband, William, of Mars; his son, David Mahaffy and his wife, Peg, of Kewadin, Mich.; his five grandchildren; his nine great-grandchildren; and his nieces and nephews.

Mahaffy, who died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, are invited to a memorial service at the Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Ave., Mars, at 3 p.m. Saturday with the Rev.
