Richard Monnie

Richard B. Monnie, 78, of Butler passed away with peace and grace with his family at his side at 6:40 p.m. Friday at the Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia.

He was born on Oct. 25, 1936, in Oakland Township, to the late Raymond Monnie and Anna Neyman Monnie.

Mr. Monnie worked as a boilerhouse operator at Armco Steel, retiring in 1985 with 30 years of service.

He was a member of the Faith Fellowship Alliance Church, where he served as a deacon.

Mr. Monnie enjoyed fishing, camping, painting, gardening, traveling, gospel music and attending reunions and family gatherings.

Mr. Monnie is survived by his wife, Greta K. Billman Monnie, who he married on Nov. 17, 1955; his son, Douglas B. Monnie and his wife, Carol, of Butler; his four daughters, Deborah K. Clark and her husband, Howard, of Butler, Karen D. Mayfield and her husband, Coy, of Noel, Mo., Denise J. McCormick and her husband, Scott, of Jamestown and Donna J. Cranmer and her husband, Joseph, of Butler; his eight grandchildren; his eight great-grandchildren; his brother, Edward Monnie and his wife, Ruth, of Butler; his sister, Gail Peach and her husband, William, of Butler; and his several nieces and nephews.

Monnie— The friends of Richard B. Monnie, who passed away Friday, Feb. 20, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Faith Fellowship Alliance Church, 200 Faith Way — Fared Drive, Butler, with the Rev. Richard Jenks officiating. Private burial will take place in the Greenlawn Burial Estates.The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Faith Fellowship Alliance Church, 200 Faith Way — Fared Drive, Butler, PA 16001.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
