Riding for the Cure gives $60K to BHS

Riding for the Cure recently presented a check to Ken DeFurio, president and CEO of Butler Health System, in the amount of $60,080.25 to assist cancer patients in Butler County.

Since 2012, the group has raised $376,500 overall and has donated more than $281,000 to the BHS Foundation, a news release from the foundation reported.

These funds assist cancer patients with their co-pays, medications, utility bills and other every day needs, according to the foundation. In addition, patients receive hair wigs, halos and accessories.

The group, under the direction of president Lynda Kerr, raises money through its annual Riding for the Cure motorcycle ride, along with several other fundraisers, some of which include Bowling for the Cure, Music for the Cure and Golfing for the Cure.
