PITTSBURGH — Allegheny County is asking the state Supreme Court to temporarily stay its order directing the county to conduct a reassessment in hopes lawmakers will intervene.

County Executive Dan Onorato says the state's property tax assessment system is broken and should be made uniform across the state.

The court ordered the county to conduct a reassessment last month. The county filed its petition seeking the 180 day stay on Friday.
