Activity book helps children identify emotions

NAMI of Butler County, Pa.

The Butler County chapter National Alliance on Mental Illness and Butler County Human Services will distribute 1,500 free copies of the “Meet Little Monster” coloring and activity book to county agencies that provide services to children and their families.

The book is meant to help young children explore and express their feelings in a fun, creative and empowering way, according to a news release from NAMI. “Meet Little Monster” helps foster dialogue between children and the safe adults in their lives, the release said.

Activity books will be given to Center for Community Resources for use by student assistance liaisons and prevention, education and outreach specialists, who provide free activities and programming in the schools. Head Start programs within Butler County also will receive copies of the coloring book. A free downloadable copy is on NAMI Butler’s website, namibutler.org/meet-little-monster/.

The 16-page activity book also includes a listing of local and national mental health and mental illness resources and websites.
