Seneca Valley High School students, front, Conner Gillooly and Caitlyn Duran, back, Alyssa St. Clair, Ally Dietrich, Cole Rapso and Kara Cavanaugh, will present the musical "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" 7:30 p.m. Feb. 27 and 28 and again on March 6 and 7, with a 2 p.m. matinee March 1, at the high school.

JACKSON TWP — Seneca Valley High School will present the musical "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 27 and 28 and again on March 6 and 7 at the high school on Seneca School Road. A matinee will be performed at 2 p.m. March 1.

Based on the book by Jeffrey Lane with music and lyrics by David Yazbeck, the musical premiered on film in 1988 before opening on Broadway in 2005.

Although a collegiate premiere is planned this year by the University of Arkansas, Seneca Valley will be the nation's first high school to perform the show.

Stage director and Seneca Valley alumnus Nathan Brewer lives and works in New York City and secured Seneca's exclusive rights through his contacts there.

The story centers on two con men in the French Riviera who engage in a contest to determine which can remain working in the fertile territory.

Admission is $8 for adults and $6 for children. Advance tickets will be sold from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays through Feb. 27 at the school or from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays through March 7. Assisting Brewer in the production as producer and vocal director is Aaron Magill, with Bruce Smith as orchestra director and Kim Walker as choreographer.
