Two taken to hospital after Adams Twp. collision
ADAMS TWP — Two people were transported to the hospital Wednesday after a rear-end collision on Route 228.
Township police said a brown GMC Suburban was stopped at a red light at the intersection of eastbound Route 228 with Pittsburgh Street and Warrendale Road at approximately 5:45 p.m. Wednesday when the driver of a blue SUV failed to stop and collided with the other SUV.
Both drivers, who were the only occupants of the vehicles, were transported by ambulance to the hospital, although police did not specify which one.
Three lanes — the two straight-travel lanes and the left-turn lane — of eastbound Route 228 were closed while Adams Area Fire District crews cleaned up from the crash and tow trucks removed the two SUVs.
Police expect the junction to fully reopen around 6:30 p.m.
