The Disabled American Veterans recently honored several Mercer County individuals and groups at its state convention.

Employees of the Keystone Blind Association were honored as Large Employer of the Year.

Sen.

Bob Robbins, R-50th, received the Commanders Special Award for Lifetime Dedication Supporting Veterans Advocacy. The award for Outstanding Disabled Veteran of the Year went to

Gary Solander.The awardees were nominated by the Mercer County Chapter of the DAV.

The American Heart Association</B> has announced that Butler County Commissioner <B>Scott Lowe</B> will chair the 2006 Heart Walk, scheduled for Oct. 14 at Butler County Community College.In this role, Lowe will provide volunteer leadership for corporate involvement of Heart Walk teams and sponsorships.Lowe encourages businesses and their employees to get actively involved in the Heart Walk by forming company walk teams or becoming corporate sponsors. The Heart Center at Butler Memorial Hospital is the presenting sponsor of the 2006 BMW Heart Walk.Registration and sponsorship information is available by contacting the American Heart Association Butler, Marshall-Warrendale division at 724-287-1823.———

<B>The Butler County Tourism and Convention Bureau</B> has announced the winners of its third annual Photo Contest.The first place prize of $500 went to <B>JoEllen Hovis </B>of Harrisville for her photo of a wooded path at Jennings Environmental Center.Second place and a $250 prize went to <B>Stephanie Steele </B>of Butler for her shot of the Butler County Court House.<B>Jacob Dingel III </B>of Butler was awarded third place and $100 for his up-close entry of a hummingbird moth hovering around a blazing star wildflower.Forty-three photographers entered photos in this year's competition.The winning photos will be displayed at The Regatta at Lake Arthur through Sunday. <B>Marilyn E. Kane Model and Talent Management</B> has announced the winners of its 2006 Photogenic Baby Contest for children younger than 3.<B>Mia Weisenstein</B>, 14-month-old daughter of Eric and Danielle Weisenstein of Butler was named 2006 Little Miss Smile.The titles of Little Mr. Macho and Tiny Mr. Personality were awarded to <B>Brayden Young</B>, 2, son of Terry and Amy Young of Butler.The title of Tiny Miss Personality was awarded to <B>Brielle Stoops</B>, 19-month-old daughter of Michael and Debra Stoops of Butler.———

Winners of the Butler Duplicate Bridge Club game held July 27 were <B>John Kristufek </B>and <B>Alex Bealles</B>. Coming in second were <B>Mary Anne McNeirney</B> and <B>Jackie Skirboll</B>.
