Ruby E. Kniess
Ruby E. Kniess, 94, of Prospect died Sunday at Northview Estates in Ellwood City.
Ruby was born in Prospect on Sept. 25, 1923, and was the daughter of Raymond and Mabel Bryan Shiever.
She retired from Kmart in Butler after many years where she had been a supervisor. Ruby also worked at the former Bryan Brothers Store in Prospect as a meat cutter. She also drove a school bus for the former Bryan School Bus Company in Prospect and at one time, worked at Step Saver Kitchen Company.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Prospect.
Ruby was known for her great pie baking and she took great pride in keeping her lawn immaculate.
Survivors include three sons, Ronald (Norene) Kniess of Rochester, Duwayne (Kay) Kniess of Summerville, S.C., and Terry (Linda) Kniess of Henderson, Nev.; one daughter, Elaine Colteryahn of Prospect; one brother, Donald (Unis) Shiever of Evansville, Ind.; and nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle Kniess, whom she married Sept. 20, 1941, and who died Nov. 29, 1993; two sisters, Jean Grenet and Patricia Moore; one infant brother; and her son-in-law, Jim Colteryahn.
KNIESS — There will be no public visitation for Ruby E. Kniess, who died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018.A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018, from the Presbyterian Church of Prospect with the Rev. Steve Cort officiating.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Presbyterian Church of Prospect, Ruby Kniess Memorial Fund.Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Jay Bryan Funeral Home in Prospect.
