Ruth Mary Etzel

Ruth Mary “Ruthie” Etzel, 72, of Butler passed away Dec. 12, 2020, after a short illness at The Grove at Harmony.

She was born Nov. 29, 1948, in Butler, and was the daughter of Maxine Pastorius Etzel Geibel and the late Gerald Etzel.

Ruth was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church and also was a member of the Blue Army at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, where she attended daily Mass.

Ruth liked to do embroidery, crocheting and playing cards. She loved the Pirates and the Penguins.

She is survived by her mother, Maxine Geibel; two sisters, Gerrie L. Palermo of Butler and Cindy Graham of Butler; and two brothers, Robert (Sally) Geibel of Butler and Ronald Geibel of North Carolina.

She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, who were very special to her, and two cousins, Terry Conerty and Kelly Conerty.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy Geibel and Judi Doumont; her loving aunt and uncle, Mary and Martin Michel; and her aunt, Yvonne Snyder.

ETZEL — There will be no public visitation for Ruth Mary “Ruthie” Etzel, who died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Private burial will take place in St. Peter Cemetery in Butler.

Arrangements are being handled by Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St., Butler, PA 16001.
