You saved my life in so many ways.

I tried to save yours day after day.

When God came to take you home,

I tried to hold on and not let you go.

I gave permission for you to go,

Said I’d be okay, little did I know.

How hard it would be to carry on,

Trying to pretend that I am strong.

I still feel cheated,

Sometimes it seems unfair.

Only God knew his plan,

That’s why you’re up there.

Each 4th of July is always hard for me,

Reliving those last days of your journey.

Nine years have passed, I hope you can see,

The many changes, kids growing and families.

Never forget that I LOVE YOU,

So often you were told.

The happiness, you brought me,

I miss you, the memories I will hold.

Me with you and you with me,

That’s the way it was supposed to be.

When we’re together again you’ll see,

Happy together Bill, forever we’ll be.
